When something rotates, a force acts outward from its center. This force is called centrifugal force. Every object has a limit, however, beyond which it cannot withstand this force and breaks apart. For example, if old vinyl records are rotated at 80,000 rpm, the centrifugal force generates so much pressure that they shatter into small pieces. These pieces fly out at high speeds, like bullets. Skateboard wheels burst at 45,000 rpm. Even steel bearings, considered very strong, explode if rotated at 150,000 rpm. The balls inside the bearings are ejected with such force that they become even more dangerous than bullets. Never perform such dangerous experiments.
