Building a home you want to love for the next 30+ years?

The most important question you need to ask is …

“Is this the view (and location) I want for the next 20/30/40+ years?”

I’ve been asking myself this question a lot lately.

I’ve started casually house hunting in an older, established neighborhood I know (and love!).

I don’t want move-in ready bc I want to build or gut remodel … and I don’t want to move for two years (when my youngest graduates from high school).

Every once in a while, a teardown house or an empty lot pops up and I ask myself …

“Could this work for us? Is this specific lot where I really want to be long-term?”

The answer is always no.

I know where I want to live long term (and where I do NOT want to live long term).

I know the area that will make me happy, and quite frankly, I think I know the exact house (it’s a gut job) that I want long term.

Like me, if you’re planning to build your forever custom home (or do a massive custom home remodel), ask yourself …

“Will I love living in this exact location with this view for the long haul? Can I see myself hosting family and friends in this yard for the long haul?”
