Actor Masaki Suda appeared on stage at the opening day greeting for the film "Why Do People Write Love Letters?" (directed by Yuya Ishii), starring Haruka Ayase, held in Tokyo on April 17th.

In the film, Suda plays Katsushige Kawashima, the 17th WBC World Super Flyweight Champion and former professional boxer. He revealed that he had spent a lot of time with his boxing gym junior, played by Kanata Hosoda, during training and had built a strong relationship of trust with him. However, he confessed, "I thought it would be nice to just chat, so I asked, 'Do you have any plans after this?' and he said, 'I'm going to dinner with my mother.' My heart went cold." He added, "I wanted to go out to dinner with him that day, exchange contact information, and occasionally get together at night... but it was strictly as a business partner."

Hosoda apologized, saying, "I've been dwelling on that ever since..." and then declared his love, "I really love Suda-san!" Sugata smiled and said, "We became friends while teasing each other about things like this."

The film is a true love story in which a letter transcends 24 years and creates a miracle. 24 years ago, 17-year-old Nazuna (Ami Toma) harbored a secret crush on Shinsuke Tomiku (Hosoda), a high school student she always saw on the same train. Then, the fateful day arrived: March 8, 2000.

In 2024, Shinsuke's father, Ryuji (Koichi Sato), receives a letter from Nazuna. He feels a tangible evidence of his deceased son's life in the letter, and the previously unknown details of Shinsuke's past begin to unfold. The encounter between Ryuji, who has continued to live on after losing a loved one, and Nazuna reveals the truth of what happened 24 years ago and the reason Nazuna wrote the letter… that's the story.

Ayase, Toma, Tsumabuki Satoshi, Sato, and director Ishii also appeared on stage for the greeting.
