The legend of Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu is not just about love. It is about loyalty, the power of choice, and the truth that genuine feelings transcend time. Long ago, two friends, Saribay and Karabay, made a promise — that their children, a boy and a girl, would one day marry. Years passed, and when Kozy and Bayan grew up, their childhood bond blossomed into true love, but fate had other plans. Karabay wished for Bayan to marry Kodar, thus breaking the promise of friendship and destroying the love between Kozy and Bayan. Through deceit, Kodar took Kozy Korpesh's life, yet Bayan could not let this treachery stand. Deceiving Kodar in return, Bayan avenged her beloved by assassinating Kodar. But even so, she could not go on living without him. Today, in memory of the strong love, unity, and loyalty of the story of Kozy Korpesh and Bayan Sulu, April 15 is celebrated in Kazakhstan.
