I'm sure you've heard the term tossed around all over social media. "LARPing." It's the next hottest accusation in fashion since we started calling people chopped. But I've noticed people throw it around in such a way that it's kind of lost all meaning. I wanted to break down the ways I've seen it used, what it really means, and if it's actually a problem or just another thing for us to gripe about.
When it comes to fake flexing, I do think there's legitimate criticism to be made. Passing off reps as real has always been a little shady, but adding the layer of social media is one more way we're being sold inauthentic content. Everything about our lives feels manufactured, especially in the age of AI content. But what about faking a persona, or an expertise? It gets a little deeper.
Let me know what you guys think, have you noticed the spread of fake flexing? Do you think there should be a sort of barrier of entry for making fashion or industry-related content?
