White Cane Safety Day is a national observance in the United States, celebrated on October 15 of each year since 1964. We have been inspired by it since the date is set aside to celebrate the achievements of people who are blind or visually impaired and the important symbol of their tool of independence- the white cane.
Save The Quest celebrated White Cane Safety Day on 15th October 2014. We conducted a Walk-a-Thon around the Delhi University Campus and initiated and terminated the walk on the premises of the Hindu College. This awareness walk is symbolic of the importance of the white cane in the life of a visually impaired person. It was also conducted to sensitize the youth towards differently abled students.
