The political crisis in Tamil Nadu continues to escalate as suspense remains over whether the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) will form the next state government. TVK has emerged as the single largest party but currently lacks a clear majority in the legislative assembly. TVK chief Vijay recently concluded a meeting with Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar, where the Governor sought stronger proof of support before allowing the swearing-in ceremony to proceed. The TVK currently has the support of 107 of its own Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and five MLAs from the Congress party, bringing their total to 112. However, the majority mark required to form the government is 118. Governor Arlekar expressed dissatisfaction with TVK's current claim to form the government, questioning the stability of a potential TVK administration.
