This Ultimate Chocolate Cake is rich, moist, and deeply chocolatey — the kind of dessert that turns any day into a celebration. 🍫✨
Made with buttermilk, cocoa, and a hint of coffee for depth, this classic cake is paired with a silky chocolate frosting that’s both fluffy and decadent. Perfect for birthdays, holidays, or whenever you need a chocolate fix!
🍰 Ingredients
For the Cake:
2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
1¾ cups (350g) sugar
¾ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 large eggs (room temp)
1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup (240ml) hot brewed coffee
For the Frosting (Optional):
1 cup (230g) butter, softened
3½ cups (450g) powdered sugar
½ cup (45g) cocoa powder
½ tsp salt
½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla extract
👩🍳 Directions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans.
2️⃣ Combine dry ingredients in one bowl; whisk wet ingredients in another.
3️⃣ Mix wet into dry, then slowly add hot coffee until smooth.
4️⃣ Divide batter into pans; bake 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
5️⃣ Cool 10 minutes in pans, then remove to a rack to cool completely.
6️⃣ Beat butter for frosting until fluffy; mix in powdered sugar, cocoa, salt, cream & vanilla until smooth.
7️⃣ Frost cooled cakes and decorate as desired.
💡 Pro Tips:
Use hot coffee to enhance the chocolate flavor (it won’t taste like coffee!).
Chill the cake before slicing for cleaner layers.
