I met with an accident in Bangalore just a month before my wedding, resulting in a broken ankle. Surgery became necessary on November 8th, with my wedding scheduled for December 15th. Overwhelmed with sadness and depression, I faced discouraging news from doctors, suggesting limited prospects for walking. Despite the challenging prognosis, I opted for surgery as the sole avenue for improvement. Amid suggestions to postpone the wedding, I steadfastly adhered to the original plan. Even close friends were skeptical about my ability to walk, but I refused to surrender hope. Post-surgery, I immediately traveled to Kolkata, marking the commencement of my arduous journey.
As the wedding day approached, visible improvements were scarce, and preparations proceeded while I remained unable to walk. My determination to walk persisted, leading to the introduction of a surgical boot recommended by my doctor, allowing me to bear only 30% of my body weight. A mere week before my wedding, I relearned how to walk, restricting myself to 30% of my body weight.
My lifelong dream of dancing and making my way to the Mandap was a constant source of motivation. Against all odds, I defied expectations, walking and dancing proudly on my wedding day. This achievement was a personal triumph, a testament to self-belief. My resolute message is to trust in oneself, for personal strength is the key.
Throughout this challenging journey, my husband stood as an unwavering pillar of support.
