The largest fashion and music event in Japan, "GirlsAward 2026 SPRING/SUMMER" (GirlsAward), was held!

The cast of the Fuji TV Monday 9pm drama "Saba-can, Going to Space," including Takumi Kitamura, Natsuki Deguchi, Kouyo Kurosaki, Eiku Yamashita (ONE N’ ONLY), Marin Nishimoto, Touha Natsume, and Yumepote, appeared and greatly enlivened the venue.

After the stage performance, they also gave an exclusive interview to Fieldcaster.

This drama tells the story of the bond between students and their teacher who dream of sending canned mackerel they made themselves into space.

Kitamura plays Shunichi Asano, a new teacher at Wakasa Fisheries High School.

This is his first time playing a teacher, and when asked about what he focused on, he said, "With the character of Asano, I valued the idea of everyone thinking together and moving forward together. So, I constantly asked the student actors here, 'What do you want to do?' or 'What are you worried about?' in each and every scene. To my surprise, everyone asked me questions, so I got the impression that they spontaneously made me their teacher." He revealed that he approached the filming with the demeanor of a teacher.

He added, "Everyone had a lot of 'I want to do this, but I can't,' right? I became aware of that myself. In episode 2, Haruka (played by Nishimoto) was a girl with a lot of worries and conflicts, so she consulted me during those scenes. Because I had heard about her worries beforehand, if I thought it was good, I would give the OK before the director did (laughs). It was like that every day." It seems he had a great relationship of trust with the student actors.

In keeping with the film's theme, when asked "What would you do if you could go to space?", Kitamura replied, "I met astronaut Noguchi and asked him about his dreams. He said, 'When I'm around 80, I want to have a drink while looking at the moon (in space).' Of course, you can't actually drink it because it's a liquid, but his dream is to 'one day be able to drink alcohol in space.' So, if I ever get the chance to go to space, I'd like to have a drink while looking at Earth." He spoke of a romantic dream.

Deguchi, who plays Sugawara Nami, immediately answered "Noodles!" when asked what she'd like to eat in space.

"I love noodles so much that sometimes I eat them for all three meals a day. Ramen, somen, knife-cut noodles would be great! Soba, udon, all of them!" she declared, showcasing her boundless love for noodles.

When asked what she'd like to do in space, Kurosaki Kouyo, who plays Terao Sosuke, replied, "I'd like to build a ground and try out some new sports. I want to come up with new space sports." Kitamura responded, "Your dreams are getting bigger because of this drama! How about space soccer?"

Nishimoto, who plays Kikuchi Haruka, said, "I love Japanese sweets, so I'd like to eat monaka (a type of Japanese sweet) in space. I'd also like to try sprinting at full speed in space."

Yumepote, who plays Sasaki Yuzuki, said, "I want to eat yogurt. I've realized how important yogurt is, so I want to maintain a healthy gut environment and stay healthy even in space! My dream is to 'munch' on yogurt floating in space."

Yamashita, who plays Kimura Ryuku, revealed his musical side by saying, "What I want to do is a live performance! A space live performance. I want to do it broadcast from space."

Natsume, who plays Nagisa Fukuhara, answered, "I want to eat popcorn. You know those things where you throw it up in the air? My success rate is really low. In space, it's 100% successful, right? Because it floats." Kitamura retorted, "Wouldn't it just float up?" and Yamashita added, "Wouldn't it just not fall down?"

Natsume empathized, saying "Ah..." and gave an embarrassed smile, saying, "That seems impossible," easing the atmosphere.

The students of Wakasa Fisheries High School were entertained by their "explosive personality" talk about space.

Please watch the drama to see their exploits!

The Monday 9 PM drama "Canned Mackerel Goes to Space" airs every Monday at 9 PM on Fuji TV.
