We chatted a few weeks ago, and the topic turned to what the holy grail SHOULD be for startups looking for growth.
According to Beise (and I fully support his perspective) a startup shouldn't hold fundraising as the winning metric. Instead, focus on nailing product / consumer fit, lowering customer acquisition cost, getting more active customers, and driving profit up. AKA building a killer 'Traction' slide for your deck.
