Michele Merkle, Director of the Air Navigation Bureau at ICAO, gives her advice to startups in the drone and aviation industries, as well as her thoughts on public views regarding aviation. She describes innovation as an enabler for startups in the industry and assures that the ICAO is there to encourage such innovation. Despite this, you have to ensure that new developments meet the demands of the flying public and that these developments are very safe. Michele compares flying standards to driving standards, which are very different and stricter than the former.
