The original album The Idiot reached number 30 on the UK Albums Chart and heavily influenced the development of the post-punk and gothic rock genres. David Bowie’s 1983 cover of China Girl became a global phenomenon, peaking at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a Gold certification in the UK. Iggy Pop was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 in recognition of his massive influence on the punk and alternative music scenes.
