The issue has become a fresh political flashpoint after Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi posted a picture of himself on 15 January (Thiruvalluvar Day) paying tribute to a portrait of Thiruvalluvar with saffron clothes and holy ash on his head. BJP state president K. Annamalai also posted similar images of Thiruvalluvar on social media platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter.
