Some people think that kettlebells are a novelty or even a waste of time. Channels focussed on building strength and size look down on the kettlebell as being too light and awkward to trigger real growth.
This is entirely missing the point.
Because not ALL training is just about building as much muscle as possible!
Firstly - does it matter if it's "optimal?" Is there any other hobby that you only engage in when it's 100% optimal? Kettlebells still build muscle... sheesh!
But more to the point, they're primarily a tool for building strength endurance: building strength and cardio simultaneously. FAR from being a novelty, this is what MORE people should actually be focussed on. This is how you develop strength that you can actuall use. What good is it being strong if you get immediately out of breath when sparring, playing sports, doing chores, or even climbing the stairs?
And if you want a great physique, then building muscle WHILE also stripping fat is what will give you that defined appearance.
Of course, there are many other unique benefits to training with kettlebells. Essentially, the kettlebell lets you train movements similar to Olympic lifting (some of the most explosive training possible) but in a far more approachable and convenient form factor. More on this in the full video, coming later today.
(I'm still learning these movements, so excuse the sloppy form on the clean and jerk! I like sharing the process...)
Point is: don't underestimate the kettlebell! And don't look down on anything that's not "optimal" for building big muscles!
