BACKGROUND / CONTEXT

This is a lively dance brought by the Spaniards to Camarines Norte. It was adapted by the people and became very popular in the town of San Vicente, Camarines Norte. According to some old folks in the town, this was danced during gatherings of high officials of the government or a welcome gestures for vistors belonging to the elite class of the society in the olden times. Today it has become a social dance.
