What is 'LOKPAL"?
Lokpal means 'Caretaker of people'. It is anti corruption authority or body of ombudsmen who represents the 'Public Interest' in the Republic of India. The most important aspect of 'LOKPAL' is that it has jurisdiction over the central government, which means Lokpal has the power to enquire into allegations of corruption against the government and its functionaries.

'The Lokpal and Lokayukt Act' was passed in 2013 following the 'Jan Lokpal Movement' by 'Anna Hazare'.
The 'lokpal' will look into the corruption cases in central government while 'Lokayukt' will look into the corruption cases of 'State governents'.
