The immigration system argues a decades-old drug charge makes him removable, even though he spent most of his life behind bars for a crime he did not commit. His lawyers and family say this deportation attempt exposes serious flaws in American justice, where a man can lose his life to prison, prove his innocence, and still not be allowed to stay in the country he grew up in. The ruling only delays the deportation. The final decision may take months.
