The main purpose of all channel's of distribution is to bridge the gap between the producer of a product and the consumer of it, regardless of location i.e. in the same community or in different countries around the world.

For business the challenge is to find/ adapt and establish channel of distribution, that is most efficient and effective, in placing a product into the hands of the customer & consumer.

The channel is composed of different institutions, that facilitate the transaction and the physical exchange of products for money.
