This bhajan is a tender, playful scene from Krishna’s childhood. Mother Yashoda is doting on her son — promising him his favorite foods, imagining his future, and preparing beautiful things for him. Surdas adds a touch of humor, ending with Yashoda’s motherly concern when she finds Krishna rolling on the floor in mischief or stubbornness.


गोपाल प्यारे मागत माखन रोटी ॥
अपने गोपाल जीको रोटिया बनादेऊ एकछोटी एक मोटी ॥
