Grieving family members and friends are speaking out after a fatal attack on father of two took place on Oct. 19 in Edmonton.

After taking his girlfriend for dinner downtown, Arvi Singh Sagoo, 55, confronted a man who was urinating on their vehicle. In response, the suspect – a known criminal who has been behind bars on several occasions – punched him in the head and left. Sagoo was unconscious and later died in hospital last Friday.

After waiting for Sagoo to recover, Vincent Ram, a close friend, said “It feels so real now… There’s no hope left. We don’t even know what to think.”

40-year-old Kyle Papin has been charged with aggravated assault, while other charges remain pending. Global News reporter Sarah Ryan reports.
