Varanasi, I always wanted to explore this holiest city. A city which remained sacred for years, where death is celebrated. This oldest city dated back to 11th century BC.

India has got many spiritual places, Varanasi also named as Kashi or Benares is considered as the oldest of this all which is situated on the banks of Ganges in the state of Utar Pradesh.

Varanasi the city where temples outnumbers home, is also famous for Benaras silk saree, Benaras Pan, beautiful Ghats and Alleys. It is referred as the city of music by UNESCO, for its contribution toward the classical music.

As i mentioned this is a place where death is celebrated, Hindus believe by dying here they can achieve Nirvana ,liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth. The scenes of Ganga Aarti in the Ghats is really staggering the one which u should not miss in your trip to Varanasi.

I have extended my trip to Sarnath also referred as Isipatana a city located 10 Kms from Varanasi, one of the 4 pilgrimage Buddha devotees should visit according to Buddhism.

Once Mark Twain, the famous American writer said
"Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together"
I definitely will go back here as Varanasi means "True Bliss"
