The little puppy wagged its tail nonstop as it stared at the boy who had come to the shelter to choose a dog. Its eyes were full of sadness and silent pleading, because with its fierce-looking face, almost no one wanted to adopt it. When the boy reached out to pet it, the puppy nervously looked toward his mother, afraid that getting too close might make her think it was dangerous. But the boy chose it anyway, and the puppy cautiously followed them into the car, comforted by the boy’s gentle touch on its head. At first, it was only allowed to stay in one room, but that didn’t matter—because the boy visited often, playing and petting it, filling its heart with joy. Slowly, it adapted to the family and was given the freedom to explore the whole house. Still, its greatest happiness was simply being by the boy’s side. Whenever the boy left for school, the puppy would curl up on his bed, patiently waiting for him to come home.
