At a press conference following her party’s defeat in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee raised allegations against the Election Commission of India, saying the Chief Election Commissioner “became the villain of this election.”

She questioned how electronic voting machines retained 80–90% charge after polling and alleged large-scale deletions of voter names under the SIR process, along with changes in administrative officials ahead of polling.

Banerjee also claimed involvement of senior political leadership, describing the election as compromised. “I have never seen this type of election in my life,” she said.

The Election Commission of India has not yet responded to these claims.
