アーティスト紹介/Artist Biographyーーー
1982年千葉県生まれ。筆などを使わず自身の手を用いて描く少女をモチーフにした作品が特徴。グラフィックデザインの専門学校を卒業後、村上隆主催の若手作家支援イベント「GEISAI」（2003年）にてスカウト賞を受賞。奈良美智との二人展「現代作家によるGIRLS展」（2013年）を通じてロッカク固有の少女像がひろく認知された。世界での評価も高く、ロッテルダムのクンストハル美術館で「Colours in my hand」展（2011年）を開催。本セール出品作品は同展覧会で展示された作品である。2020年には、出身地である千葉県の県立美術館で大規模な個展「魔法の手　ロッカクアヤコ作品展」を成功させた。

Born in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in 1982. She has an exceptional technique to create her artworks. Instead of using brushes, she uses her hands to paint. Little girls’ motif is frequently appeared in her work, and her adorable expression with the motif has attracted art lovers. After her graduation from a graphic design school, she marked her turning point with a young-artists-encouraging event called GEISAI which was organized by MURAKAMI Takashi. She won the Scout Prize. Following this event, her professional career as an artist became accelerating. In 2013, NARA Yoshitomo and she held a group exhibition. Moreover, she also successfully completed her solo exhibition ‘Colours in my hand’ at an internationally renowned museum, Kunsthal Rotterdam, in 2011. The highlighted work Untitled (2008) was exhibited at this exhibition. Recently, her another solo exhibition ‘Maho-no-Te (Magical Hand) Rokkaku Ayako’ (2020) was held by Chiba City Museum of Art which located in her hometown.
