With just a week to go for the Tamil Nadu elections, actor-turned-politician Vijay has released the manifesto of his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, outlining an ambitious welfare and development agenda ahead of Phase 1 voting on April 23. The manifesto promises major financial support schemes including Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women heads of households, six free LPG cylinders annually, and educational aid for students. It also includes proposals for unemployment assistance, internship-linked stipends, startup loans, and a structured recruitment calendar aimed at youth empowerment. In agriculture, the party has promised higher MSP, crop insurance, annual financial aid, and loan waivers. The document also highlights healthcare expansion, free electricity, pensions for the differently abled, and improved drinking water access. On the economic front, it envisions MSME support, AI-driven development, and a long-term goal of building a $1.5 trillion economy, while Vijay assured he would remain accessible and actively engage with his constituency as an MLA.
