In 1935, a young Indian astrophysicist named Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar presented a groundbreakingly new idea: a maximum mass limit for white dwarf stars. However, his ideas were denounced by the leading authority of astrophysics at the time, and a colleague/mentor of his, Sir Arthur Eddington. For years, Eddington would criticize the so-called “Chandrasekhar Limit” and denounce its existence. Nowadays, we know Chandrasekhar was right all along, but what exactly went into the effort of supporting his bold claim? Find out in my latest video!
