Ryota Yamasato (born April 14, 1977) is a Japanese comedian, presenter, and commentator. He is the straight man of the comedy duo Nankai Candies, and his partner is Shizuchan (Shizuyo Yamazaki). A native of Chiba Prefecture, he graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Kansai University and joined Yoshimoto Kogyo. They formed the comedy duo in 2003. He has gained popularity with his unique, twisted perspective and self-deprecating personality, appearing in manzai and variety shows. He also has a wide range of solo activities, hosting and commentating on information and talk shows such as "Sukkiri" and "Tensai!! Company," and is highly acclaimed as a radio personality. His show "Yamasato Ryota's Fumotona Giron" in particular has a strong following among late-night radio fans. His sharp analytical skills and skillful linguistic sense have earned him attention not only as a comedian but also as a cultural figure, and he has written books and essays. In 2019, he married actress Yu Aoi, which caused quite a stir. While in recent years he has established a stable position as an emcee, he continues to be active in many fields, making use of his sharp tongue and intellect as a comedian.
