We were all so excited to welcome our new chicks today. Our kids were glued to the incubator for about an hour watching for the first chick to hatch (way past their bedtime).

We’ve had 21 days to set up the brooder but haven’t managed to find time yet,’so we’ve set up a little temporary box until we get a chance to build one.

Join us as we welcome our first chicks and set up our temporary brooder box for our new Araucana and Orpington chicks.



Hi, We’re Lance and Claire Mullin. We have five amazing kids and as a family we are trying to live a slow, self-sufficient lifestyle, growing much of our own food off our small farm.
