Annamalai has previously stated he will not contest in this election, citing his father's illness, though questions are being raised whether this is a form of protest. Other BJP leaders in Tamil Nadu are also speaking up against the seat allocation. A protest was held at Kinnathar Kadavu by BJP workers, who claimed that constituency should have been given to the BJP. The discontent highlights growing unrest within the BJP ecosystem in Tamil Nadu over the seat-sharing arrangement with AIADMK.
