Nox Mortalis is a mix of open-world survival game and dungeon crawler, with a PS1-era aesthetic and a few horror elements.

Typically I skip the entire survival-crafting genre, but I saw someone play an earlier version of this demo and the aesthetic grabbed me pretty quickly, and I wasn't put off by the mechanics. So when I saw it included in Next Fest I knew I wanted to give it a try.

I ended up spending a ridiculous amount of time with this demo, even after reaching its "end". Even if the elements of the game feel rather straightforward individually, I just really enjoy exploring the game world.

I spent even more time than this video indicates, as I caught wind on the Steam forums of there being even more stuff out of ordinary reach. I plan to post that additional exploration separately (which is also why this video ends somewhat abruptly).
