A small fire at a bank in Cooper, Texas, in 2019 revealed one of the most extensive cases of bank fraud in more than three decades. Anita Gail Moody, president of the Enloe State Bank, pleaded guilty to a yearslong scheme to steal more than $11 million from the bank, and the Texas Department of Banking closed it. It was the nation's first bank failure in 17 months.
