Kabukicho is often called the dangerous area of Tokyo. It's an area of Shinjuku that's the red light district. There are lots of love hotels and sketchy establishments there, but it's not unsafe for tourists to walk around the streets. It's important to ignore any touts who try and entice you into their bars - that's where people's drinks are spiked, or they may be robbed or intimidated. But as long as you ignore the touts and stay out of their dodgy bars, it's safe to walk around the streets. It's also a good place to stay - there are many hotels there and it's a very convenient location near Shinjuku Station. It's an exciting area
