Today in #FinTechHotPot we are going to insure our puppy Mishka with the help of Alvin Kwock, founder of the digital #InsurTech #startup OneDegree in Hong Kong.

Alvin decided to start his company together with co-founder when Alvin faced challenges with #insurance industry at the time his mother fought with cancer.

OneDegree is among the four virtual insurers that received licenses and started operations earlier this year, including Bowtie, ZA and Avo Insurance. You will meet them all at the upcoming Hong Kong FinTech Week.

OneDegree has started by offering pet insurance, something really unique to Hong Kong. While being a niche player, the pet insurance market doesn’t have much competition yet. Later Alvin plans to become a universal insurance company.
