Electric Eels are the only vertebrates that generate electricity strong enough to stun prey.
This short visual story shows how it actually works: deep within the eel’s body are three specialized organs—Sachs, Hunter’s, and Main—packed with thousands of electrocytes (modified muscle cells). When triggered, these cells release a charge all at once, producing up to 860 volts of electricity—enough to knock out fish, deter predators, or sense their surroundings in murky waters.
🔬 Fun Fact: Scientists believe the electric eel (Electrophorus voltai) evolved this unique ability for both offense and navigation in the murky Amazon River Basin.
🎥 Stunning visuals inspired by real biology, not sci-fi.
