📚👨‍👦‍👦❤️Giving parenting advice to others seems relatively easy- you see something that one of your friends or family members are struggling with and you offer a suggestion. However, your kind intention of helping out a parent can easily backfire if that parent is offended by your advice!

As a professional, I pick and choose who and when I offer advice outside of a clinical setting. I have to weigh my relationship that I have with them and how they will potentially receive any of my suggestions. I have friends and family members that want me to offer advice when it comes up, but others where I know it won’t be taken well, so I keep it to myself. It could be the best suggestion in the world, but if it’s not going to be received positively, it’s just not worth it.
