The Catholic Church and Trump are going to war. With the American Catholic Church writing to Congress saying that the passage of the Big Beautiful Bill, which most consider to be the worst bill in the history of the United States, would be a moral failure for American society as a whole. Catholic Bishops and Priests have also started to go to immigration court to prevent ICE from kidnapping people. Several times in the past few weeks it’s been observed that when they show up, ICE runs away. Perhaps holy water makes ICE’s skin burn. Bishop Pham has led the charge. He is Pope Leo’s first appointed Bishop and he came to America as a Vietnamese refugee 40 years ago. He said that government lawyers approached him when he went to court to tell him that they’re unsure about the morality of their actions. Catholic Clergy have begun handing out information sheets outside of immigration court to make sure people know their rights. But now, in what some have called retaliation, ICE has started to raid Catholic Churches to abduct people. The Catholic Church has denounced this with Archbishop Broglio saying “no person of good will can remain silent” and Reverend Gomez saying “These are human beings and they are being treated worse than animals”. Now ICE has denied that they are raiding churches. One of the more interesting things about ICE, who many say act like the secret police, is that they insist that everyone in America is lying about them. They’ve now accused the Catholic Church, the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York City, the City of Los Angeles, police officers, tourists, random bystanders, clergy, judges, newspapers, Congressmen, cameras, and your own eyes and ears of lying about them.
