Here’s how I did it (the 5th time lol)👇🏼

used oxalic acid/wood bleach & scrubbed with steel wool to remove any discolorations
sanded with 120 grit then 150 grit
used general finishes oil based pre conditioner, waited an hour (thanks @midcenturydaydreamtx for the tip!)
stained with general finishes gel stain & wiped off with a clean rag
sealed with mohawk satin lacquer
