He also emphasised buying “swadeshi” goods, which are made in India. Taking a jibe at the US, he remarked that there is a politics of economic selfishness in the world, with everyone protecting their own interests. He made these strong statements in the city of Ahmedabad while inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for projects worth $65.85 million. This announcement comes just days ahead of the August 27 deadline, after which the tariff will take effect. Trump announced the tariffs on India due to its increased trade with Russia.
