The Saga Bar Association has issued a statement strongly condemning the DNA testing fraud committed by a Saga Prefectural Police employee, calling it an "extremely serious crime."
According to the Saga Prefectural Police, a male employee in his 40s at the National Research Institute of Criminal Investigation was dismissed for 130 instances of inappropriate behavior over a seven-year period, including reporting DNA tests that actually were not performed.
In response, Saga Bar Association President Deguchi Soichiro issued a statement on the 9th, condemning the incident as "an extremely serious and grave crime that undermines trust in scientific investigation."
Furthermore, in response to the prefectural police's explanation that the series of irregularities "will not affect the trial," he stated that "this conclusion was reached solely by internal investigators and is not credible," and strongly called for a reinvestigation by a third-party organization.
