This year, Windmill Microlending celebrates 20 years of helping skilled immigrants rebuild their careers in Canada.

Meet Dr. Eva, a veterinarian from Slovakia and one of Windmill’s first 10 clients. She and her husband, both trained vets, spent six gruelling years working survival jobs like cleaning and delivering pizza, all while fighting to regain their credentials and practice veterinary medicine in Canada.

They called it their “six bloody years.” But with determination, sacrifice and support from Windmill, they made it through.

Today, Dr. Eva and her husband are thriving. They own and operate a veterinary practice in Dewinton, Alberta, living the dream they worked so hard to achieve.
