South African Railways NG15 2-8-2 134, built by Société Anglo-Franco-Belge in 1952 (Works No. 2684) made its first 'public' appearance hauling goods trains since restoration during a David Williams Photographic Charter over the weekend of 7th, 8th and 9th March 2025. This video features footage from the Saturday and Sunday with some glorious weather as the NG15 runs beneath Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) through the Eryri National Park.

In its working life the locomotive worked on the Otavi Railway, later transferring to Port Elizabeth to work the Avontuur Branch, being withdrawn from service in 1990 for boiler repairs that were never completed due to the declining amount of work for steam locomotives.

The locomotive was bought and moved to the United Kingdom for a scheme to built at railway at Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire but when this fell through and the locomotives were purchased for the Welsh Highland Railway which was starting to be rebuilt at the time.

Restoration started in 1999 as a long term restoration project. The locomotive debuted to the public at the Superpower event in 2024 (    • Welsh Highland Railway Superpower 2024 - G...   ) giving demonstration runs in Dinas yard.

During the weekend the locomotive had only so far being gauged as far as Rhyd Ddu restricting the runs with the South African Freight Train to the reverse curves around Rhyd Ddu.
