Sorry mcm purists you may not like this one.

The design of this piece was excellent but I truly wasnt loving the shields on the door fronts. It was giving off too much of a Medieval times look. The poll on switching them over to cane was a perfect split so I made the excecutive decision to add splined cane to the door fronts for a lighter more boho look.

Was it the right call or a mistake?

What I did:

Realigned each drawer
Redoweled and rebuilt the entire base, undoing someones awful fixes.
Glued down any loose veneer with @titebondwoodproducts wood glue
remove the Sheilds, routed a groove, then added splined cane rattan
Filled any voids with @jbweldDIY 2 part epoxy putty tinted with mixol Tints
Sanded the piece with @seriousgrit sanding pads
Stained the legs with @Zarfinishes Premium Teak Stain
 Sealed the piece with @Zinsser Sealcoat
 Performed color touchups with @mohawkfinishing Blandals, powder stains, and graining pens
Sprayed toner (Zinsser sealcoat + Transtint medium brown dye)
Topcoated the piece with @geminiindustries Evo clear – Satin Sheen
