We've all heard the term "picture perfect," but this can be a misnomer. This talk explores the parallel between a passion for photography and the importance of embracing imperfections, both in art and in life. Rui is a junior at the American School in Japan. He loves science and is an avid member of iGEM, a synthetic biology-based club. But, more recently, he has discovered a passion for videography, film, and photography. Delving into this world of digital media, he seeks a form of escape from the influences of everyday perfectionism, the drive to seek flawless excellence. In fact, it guides him to do the opposite: to embrace imperfection. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
