Ive arrived in the Philippines!! Here I will share where I stayed, what activities to do, and helpful tips for visiting the Philippines!

My first stop was an island called Bohol. There is an island very close by called Panglao, which is the more touristy part of Bohol. Here, you will find more western restaurants, as well as more luxury hotels. We stayed in Tagbilaran, which is the main city in Bohol.

WHERE TO STAY
We stayed at a hotel called RedDoorz, which is an extremely common budget hotel chain all throughout the Philippines. Each room costs about $10 USD per night. It was not the nicest hotel room by any means, but it felt safe, and when it comes to either spending money on activities or accommodation, I will always choose activities!

TANSPORTATION
We decided to rent a motorbike while here, and I would highly recommend this! Many of the activities are quite far from Panglao and the city center. The price of a motorbike ranges from $5-$9 per day. This is much more expensive than other countries in Asia, but this is the typical price all throughout the Philippines. The other mode of transportation is by tuktuk, but going in tuktuks often can really start to add up $$$ quick.

WHERE TO EAT
Before we came to the Philippines, we heard from everyone "enjoy the food in Thailand now, because it will not be the same in the Philippines". This unfortunately has proven to be true for the most part, depending on your taste. At the local restaurants typically your options consist of meat & rice, rice & meat, or meat & rice. The meat itself tastes good, but if you do not like to have meat for every meal, it can be difficult to find otherwise.

On Panglao, there are more western style restaurants which do have really tasty comfort foods from home, and also there are a few vegan restaurants on the island. Of course you can expect to pay more for western style food than for local dishes.

ACTIVITIES
Philippine Tarsiers! These cute little guys are found in the hills of Bohol. They are located in a sanctuary called the Tarsier Conservation Area. It is a small paved loop which you can walk around and see some of the sleeping tarsiers. The cost is only around $2 USD per person
Waterfalls! There are several waterfalls throughout Bohol, some of which you can go cliff jumping! The one we went to was called Ingkumhan Falls. We only had to pay for parking which was $1 and then we tipped the local who offered to show us the way there.
Chocolate Hills! See the beautiful rolling hills of Bohol! You take stairs to the top of a lookout which oversees all of Bohol. The entrance fee is $1.
Cabagnow Cave Pool! This cave pool is located in Anda, Bohol, and filled with clear blue water! The depth goes from 12-25 feet!
