I started working at orphanages during my school days. However, the turning point in my life was when I acted as a scribe for visually impaired students. I remember the first time I was introduced to a visually impaired student at my school. He was my senior, and I got the opportunity to scribe his Boards exam in 2010. Though he was only partially blind, taking the exam was not easy for him. Since then, I've never stopped and I started to frequently scribe for visually impaired students and later I started teaching them too. This is how visually impaired people became part of my life. Scribing, if you are unaware of what that means, essentially means to write an exam or test for a visually impaired or physically challenged person on their behalf.

In 2013, while still in college, I finally started an NGO called Save the Quest. Along with empowering visually impaired students by equipping them with computer skills, the organisation also supports the educational needs of street children. There were many situations in which students had to leave exams because of unavailability of scribes. The unavailability of a quality scribe and lack of awareness about scribing are the two biggest challenges that the sector faces. Right now, even though there is a dearth of scribes, there are no parameters as such to judge a scribe for good writing skills and speed. What I am trying to do is make quality scribes accessible and available.

Thanks, everyone. Here's to the next 9!❤️
