The U.S. Supreme Court announced this week it will not take up former Kentucky clerk Kim Davis' petition to reconsider the 2015 ruling that gave nationwide legal cover to same-sex marriage.

Davis was briefly jailed and has been caught up in years of litigation after she refused to issue licenses for same-sex couples in Rowan County, citing her Christian convictions about sexuality and marriage.
