Adobe Illustrator just added a new feature in the beta called Turntable… and it’s weird. Basically, you can take a 2D vector drawing, hit a button, and Illustrator will spin it around like it’s on a lazy susan. Suddenly, your flat art has different angles — kind of like fake 3D, but still vector.

In this video, I test it out on my own drawings (including a cardinal that did not sign up for this experiment). Does it actually work? Is it useful? Or is it just another strange Adobe idea that makes you go “huh”?

Watch me put it through the wringer and see if Illustrator’s new Turntable tool is genius… or just goofy.
