I’ll be the first to admit I’m a total sucker for tambour doors. After weeks of watching the for sale listing I finally pulled the trigger. As per usual the piece was even worse than pictured. After a long and fairly complex restoration it’s now ready to be loved again.

What I did:

Filled voids with wood filler and 2 part epoxy
Veneered the heavily damaged sides
Scraped the failing shellac and DIY poly on top with @bahco carbide scraper
Sanded the piece with @3mabrasives Cubitron sanding pads
Sealed the piece with @Zinsser Sealcoat Dewaxed Shellac
Sprayed a very light coat of toner (Zinsser sealcoat + Transtint medium brown dye) to even the color
Top coated the piece with @geminiindustries Evo clear – Satin Sheen
