Amanda Lindhout is a Canadian journalist, humanitarian, and bestselling author recognized globally for her work on resilience, mindset, and trauma recovery. At 24, she left her job as a cocktail waitress to report from conflict zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2008, while in Somalia as a freelance journalist, she was kidnapped by insurgents and held hostage for 460 days. After her release in 2009, Amanda transformed her experience into advocacy, and founded an organization to support education and women’s empowerment in Somalia. Her memoir, A Housa in the Sky (2013), became a New York Times bestseller and was praised for its honesty and emotional depth. Amanda has since delivered over 500 keynotes in 28 countries. Amanda Lindhout's story inspires individuals and organizations facing adversity, change, or uncertainty.
